Intermodal Dispatcher
Newark NJ based trucking company looking for a dispatcher for afternoon shift. Mon to Fri 12 to 8pm, but must be able to work 6am-3pm shift to cover if and when needed.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate container moves in/out of Newark ports
• Ensure drivers have proper paperwork and credentials prior to departure
• Ensure that shipping data is entered into the system timely and accurately
• Communicates dispatch instructions and expectations to drivers
• Communicates driver issues to supervisors and management and assists with resolution
• Provide leadership, accountability and support to assigned drivers
• Adhere to company, state and federal DOT/OSHA/FMCSA requirements
• Provide customer support as needed, answering questions and addressing needs
Field calls, emails, and texts from drivers to answer any questions that may have such as route questions, pick-up or delivery instructions, and/or in-transit issues that may arise.
The ideal candidate will have: Experience in NY/NJ port dispatching. (Willing to train the right candidate.) MUST be able to work morning and or afternoon shift when needed. MUST BE FLEXIBLE!!
Skills:
• Dispatch experience in NY/NJ Ports and steamship lines preferred, but not required. We will train the right candidate.
• Able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
• Basic knowledge of local routes, interstates highway and cities
• Knowledge of dispatching with an ability to project driver arrival times
• The ability to work and communicate with multiple departments and a variety of personnel – both internal and external
• Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
• Ability to learn and use multiple software systems
