PITS Environmental is a full-service environmental testing laboratory located in Millburn, New Jersey, specializing in water and soil analysis, microbiology, and indoor environmental quality testing. Our laboratory provides analytical services for potable water, building water systems, wastewater, soil, and indoor air and surface samples. We are currently seeking an Environmental Laboratory Technician (Chemist) to join our growing team and contribute to our commitment to delivering accurate, reliable, and timely analytical results.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze environmental samples to measure basic chemical and physical parameters in water, wastewater, and soil.
Perform routine sample preparation and simple analytical tests.
Carry out basic laboratory tasks such as pipetting, measuring volumes, weighing samples, and preparing solutions.
Assist with routine laboratory operations including cleaning glassware, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean work area.
Follow written Standard Operating Procedures, quality control requirements, and safety guidelines.
Support quality assurance activities by properly documenting work, following checklists, and maintaining accurate records.
Perform basic calculations and record test results accurately.
Prepare reagents, standards, and samples for analysis as instructed.
Handle chemicals and samples safely, following proper waste disposal and laboratory safety procedures.
Enter data into laboratory systems and assist with preparing test reports.
Support customer service activities by helping respond to basic technical questions and assisting with result interpretation when needed.
Assist with sample receiving, labeling, logging, and chain-of-custody documentation.
Perform routine administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, scanning reports, and answering phone inquiries.
Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship or visa support now or in the future.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science field.
Familiarity with simple laboratory tasks such as weighing, pipetting, and preparing solutions.
Ability to follow written instructions and standard operating procedures.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Comfortable with data entry, record keeping, and simple documentation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Able to manage time well and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and following safety rules.
