Network Specialist

This is a consultancy role at our partner Covanta Energy. Covanta is one of the world's largest owners and operators of infrastructure for the conversion of waste-to-energy (known as "energy-from-waste" or "EfW"), as well as other waste disposal and renewable energy production businesses.

Candidate Profile:

  • Post 9/11 Veteran with an Honorable discharge, OR
  • Currently serving in the National Guard or Reserve
  • Availability to work full-time

Overall Position Description:

  • The primary responsibilities of this role is to participate on a support team responsible for network computing infrastructure. Participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all infrastructure hardware, software and any infrastructure as a service program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Configure networking systems to ensure their smooth and reliable operation
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, cabling and peripheral devices as needed
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations and other network appliances
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions
  • Perform network and security audits, and system backups and recovery

Qualifications:

  • To be eligible you must be a Veteran with an honorable discharge and served in the military past 9/11/2001 (or currently serving in the Guard/Reserve)
  • Bachelor degree in Network Administration OR related industry certification (i.e. CCNA) a PLUS
  • Strong knowledge of network engineering to include WAN, broadband, wireless and other connectivity technologies
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of firewall systems, VPN and other related security protocols
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Duration:
  • Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)

Salary:

  • $20.00/Hour (Plus Benefits)
