My wife & I are selling our home away from home: a meticulously maintained 1978 42 Post Marine Sport Fishing yacht. We are hesitant to sell but my wife & I no longer stay aboard & now have two small children & a project home. Without time to spare, we have not been able to make proper use of the boat.
The history of this vessel: my wife & I purchased the boat from CT which was on the hard for approximately 2 years. We re-commissioned the boat including extensive repairs & maintenance to be our new liveaboard. Our maiden voyage was from Chester, CT to Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City, NJ where we resided as liveaboards for 3 years. We used the boat to travel the coast down to the Navesink and up to Croton when we had the time. This yacht is extremely well-suited as a liveaboard and our neighbors always enjoyed gatherings aboard. The boat has all the amenities of an apartment without the exorbitant costs of Jersey City, Hoboken, & New York City NYC. My wife & I had the the best years of our lives staying aboard and met some of the greatest people during our time at the marina. The marinas in the area are walking distance to the PATH in addition to the heart of Jersey City. Unfortunately, after the baby came, we managed to last 4 months on the boat before we required child care and forced to purchase a home. After the second baby arrived, we no longer had the free time to enjoy the boat. We would very much like to keep this boat & have it be a part of our life but without the ability to enjoy or store it closer to home we will have to part with her. I am a mechanical engineer and have meticulous records of all the extensive service and maintenance done since purchased. I have the original build spec & maintenance book from Post Marine in addition to all of the documentation on the systems (engines/twin discs/steering/etc).
WE WOULD LIKE TO SELL THE BOAT OR TRADE DOWN TO A 28 BERTRAM OR EQUAL (Must be trailer-able). THE BOAT HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED & REPAIRED WITH THOROUGH RECORDS. I AM A TRAINED DIESEL TECHNICIAN WHO LATER RECEIVED MY MASTERS IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. I KNOW THE BOAT INSIDE & OUT. ALL OF THE MECHANICALS & SYSTEMS OPERATE AS INTENDED.
