Position Summary:
This position is responsible for implementing high standards for the maintenance and upkeep of Shelter and other facilities. This position requires a disciplined and motivated individual capable of handling multiple projects with minimal or no supervision. Must have good organizational skills and be able to execute basic maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
Principle Responsibilities
• Perform daily maintenance, housekeeping, and minor repairs of facilities.
• Accurate documentation and record keeping of all maintenance and repairs including various work orders received from staff/tenants.
• Oversee the preventive maintenance program and conduct monthly inspections.
• Assist with coordination with professional vendors to repair/replace major system work as needed or major building repairs.
• Minor repair work may include painting & plastering, minor plumbing (repairs, clearing clogs), lock changing, wall & floor tile replacement, trash removal, minor electrical (smoke detectors, lights, switches etc.) touch ups, snow removal and landscaping.
• Assist with transport of large donations when needed
• Assist with large deliveries, i.e. NJ Community Food Bank, supply orders, etc.
• Assist with maintaining organization of supply areas that include, 2nd floor supply room, dormitory supply room, kitchen pantry rooms, and walk in refrigerator in kitchen area.
• Assist with maintenance on other properties when necessary.
• Conduct self in a respectful and courteous manner, and maintain strict confidentiality of program residents.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
• At least 3 years experience in building maintenance or relative occupation
• Knowledge of basic building repairs such as minor plumbing, painting, repairing sheet rock, door locks, flooring, etc.
• Ability to devise, schedule and perform preventive maintenance plan
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent oral and written skills, organizational skills, and the ability to interact effectively with co-workers, consumers, and outside contacts are essential.
• Ability to organize, work independently, and negotiate and problem solve.
• Knowledge of maintenance and supply costs is essential.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License and able to utilize agency van.
