Well here I am again.
Age: 43 at the end of December
Fave drummers: Zach Hill, Mitch Mitchell, Rashied Ali, Jaki Liebezeit, Tony Williams
Musical influences: Pink Floyd, Hella, King Crimson, Dillinger Escape Plan, Can
Want to make music that sounds like: Any of those bands, plus: Mastodon, Opeth, Night Sun, Hairy Chapter, Wind (if you know any of those last three bands, I'll give you a deutschland mark), Kraftwerk, Portishead, DJ Shadow, Meshuggah, Testament
Weaknesses: not skilled at double-bass pedal, though I could slowly introduce it. Caffeine addict. Have trouble getting around to writing lyrics sometimes.
Strengths: One of the fastest right-foots in NJ when my chops are up. Power, drama, presence, versatility, work ethic, long hair, strong singer
Looking for: Millennial or GenZ guitarist, bassist, and/or keyboardist (one, some, or all) who is fucking sick as hell on their instrument, has some swagger, doesn't mind standing out and being better than the audience (which is how it should be, and that's why YOU'RE on the stage and THEY'RE not, fellow musicians in the audience notwithstanding) and this, by the way, is why the audience LIKES you. Bonus points if you work out (but not a necessity. I ultimately don't care what you look like as long as you're fucking NICE WIT IT
[see what I'm not looking for below]
My whole thing is, I want to leave the audience blown away, like they have no idea what they just witnessed or what happened to them, AND THEY WANT MORE. I'm talking complexity, speed, drama, darkness but also hope, longer songs (though not all), maybe some screaming or growling, shrieking guitar solos, mind-boggling drum fills, crunching riffs from a PRS plugged into a fucking Blackstar, but also humor, absurdity, feeling. That kinda shit.
Not looking for: A) people with whom I have no musical taste in common, or B) folks who are uninterested in playing live shows, or C) self-righteous older musicians who don't care about quality, badassness, or uniqueness (maybe they did once, but not anymore) and just want to "play shows and record music" no matter how mediocre or dull it is, rather than work harder and perhaps slightly longer at creating something unique and memorable. Also, D) gearheads who care more about setups than actually making music. Oh yeah, and no white nationalists/nazis/misogynist scum/christian nationalists/or other fucking morons
If my attitude offends you, forgive me. But also don't email me. I'm too old to deal with ambitionless indecisive disloyal chuts
Or nazis
If you've read this far and don't feel personally attacked, I look forward to meeting you
