A Rare and Important Violin Bow by Nicolas Eury (circa early 19th century)
This exceptional violin bow is attributed to Nicolas Eury, one of the distinguished French bow makers of the early 19th century, highly regarded among the circle of François Xavier Tourte’s followers. The stick, of beautiful round pernambuco, displays the elegance, balance, and refined craftsmanship characteristic of Eury’s finest work.
According to the accompanying certificate issued in Paris in 1992 by the eminent expert Étienne Vatelot, the bow is an authentic work of Nicolas Eury, with the exception of the frog and adjuster, which are later replacements from the Pajeot school.
Eury’s bows are celebrated for their superb playability, responsiveness, and tonal richness, placing them among the most desirable examples of French bow making.
This bow is accompanied by Vatelot’s certificate and should be considered an outstanding opportunity to acquire a work by one of the great French archetier masters.
