Hello, my name is William, and I would like to be your next tutor!

I offer evening and weekend tutoring in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus (regular and AP), and high school physics. If you or your child want to succeed in math classes in the coming school year, or prepare for a placement or standardized test (SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, ASVAB), I can help!
I focus on helping students understand math and become successful independent learners. I am friendly and personable, and I am really good at explaining math. My students tell their parents they wouldn't want any other tutor. Judge for yourself: take a trial one-hour session, and if you don't want to continue, it's free. My rates start at $30 for a 60-minute class + travel surcharge that depends on travel distance.
In addition to traditional in-person lessons, for the last 4 years I have offered online tutoring. This is an excellent alternative for those looking for additional scheduling flexibility and ways to avoid commute. With a shared computer screen and a live video feed, my online classes are nearly as effective as in-person lessons. All you need to get started is a computer with a camera, a broadband Internet connection and a cell phone. Online classes are $30 for 60 minutes.
My background: I am an engineering PhD and a research scientist with degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and UC Berkeley, both top-5 in my field. I have tutored math to schoolchildren and adults for over 8 years. I also taught and assisted in teaching of engineering lectures and labs with class sizes from 10 to 250 students. I am a recipient of the University student-nominated best teaching assistant award, and I appeared on the University of Illinois list of teachers ranked by students as excellent.
