National Environmental Company (MXI/Arcwood Environmental) is seeking hard-working, reliable individuals to staff local Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events. No prior experience necessary. Requirements are show up on time, work hard, and get along well with others. This is an excellent opportunity to break into the Environmental Services field!

The Role: HHW events provide residents a safe way to dispose of materials like paint, automotive fluids, cleaners, pesticides/herbicides, and batteries. As a member of the staff you will help manage the collection, characterization, and packing of these materials into proper UN-rated containers for safe shipment.
Schedule & Logistics:
• Days: Primarily Saturdays; some Sundays.
• Hours: Generally 6:30 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM but vary based on client
• Location: Varies every weekend. Events are held in various towns throughout the region. We do events for Bergen County, Middlesex County, Essex County, Morris County, Sussex County, Warren County, Hunterdon County, Mercer County, Camden County, Passaic County, Gloucester County, Atlantic County, Cape May County, and Cumberland County. We also do events around Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Upstate New York, and Long Island. No experience necessary.
• Transportation: You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the site. (Travel opportunities/bonuses may be available for distant sites).
Compensation:
• Entry Rate ($200/day): For candidates any experience or educational background. This rate increases quickly with consistent attendance and hard work.
• Chemist Rate ($275/day): Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, etc.) OR a CURRENT 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate.
• Forklift Operators ($250/day): Candidates with forklift certificates and experience can qualify for additional starting pay as well.
• Growth: Pay can increase to $350/day roles based on performance, attendance, and skill acquisition.
Requirements:
• Ability to lift 40 lbs repeatedly and remain on your feet for 8+ hours.
• Reliable transportation.
• Completion of a brief online safety seminar (includes a $25 bonus in your first check).
• Attire: Jeans and hard-toed work boots (Company provides shirts and PPE).
• Strong Work Ethic: This is a fast-paced, physical outdoor job. Reliability and respect are our highest priorities.
