For sale is a vintage Limoges Castel France porcelain dish to hold trinkets | jewelry | rings | earrings | or just to display as an objet d’ art as I have done.
This collectible hand-painted scalloped dish measures 5.5” W x 5” L, and is in the shape of a clam shell. It is from the Decor Vieux Marseille Collection and depicts a fisherman on a river bank, surrounded by foliage, beautifully painted in soothing neutral green, beige and brown tones.
The backstamp features a red Limoges shield with a crown, and the words: Porcelaine LIMOGES CASTEL France
FABRIQUEE ET DECOREE A LIMOGES … Below the red shield is the collection name in black script: “Décor Vieux Marseille”
My mother purchased this dish in the very early 1980s, although it may be slight older than that. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing of the glaze.
