I have been a bandleader for events since 2008, when I left my spot in a casino band. Over the years I have changed the band many times to account for comings and goings and agency specifications. My available media reflects a lot of different looks, resulting from a lot of different people who have worked in my bands. I can produce something like any of the media you see here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-oiMC_2u0XgYeanA5Aj5UQ/
I have worked with most of the large agencies in Philadelphia and have also appeared as “Spotlight” by Hank Lane.
Google “Main Line Affair” which is the brand I have used when not performing for agencies mostly. I always make sure I’m on the same page as my clients. We play the things we are supposed to play. We execute your plan. We always customize a generous amount. We have never failed to learn a first dance, or parent dance. Some bands bag it and put on a recording – I have never had to do that.
To do the job right, I prefer to have at least a 6-piece. I have done up to 11-piece. Pricing in the Philly area = $1,500 + [ $350 per performer). Pricing North of New Brunswick or at the Jersey shore = $1,700 + [ $400 per performer). NYC and Long Island = not too different, but must consider tolls/parking.
Some of the agencies who provide wedding bands do a great job and some sell you videos they produce and then send performers who may or may not have been in the video you were shown (if you can’t see it on a public website, that means they don’t want you to be able to compare it with what you get). Either way, they cost a lot more. I am disclosing that my videos represent many years, and no individual performer is guaranteed to be included. But I show the videos as good faith representations of what I produce, and I can adjust for client needs. Some of those agencies will tell you that only they have that quality, and then maybe they double-book some of their brands and hire the likes of me to cover one of the jobs anyway. You can pay for their marketing, and their offices and their admirable video production. I don’t have any of that anymore, so I don’t need to make it up, and that’s why my pricing above is transparent and sensible. You are paying for me, a professional sound system, and other performers.
What makes for a pro band versus a garage band? A pro band (1) plays what the engagement merits, not the band’s favorite songs, (2) there is no space between songs – no guitar tuning or beer sipping, or saying silly things – just wall-to-wall music, (3) a pro band dresses appropriate to an occasion, (4) a pro band
One last thing: and you should look for this in anyone else’s contract: we are paid our balance, according to the terms of our contract, upon your satisfaction.
E-Mail me through this ad, as I get so many junk phone calls that I don’t answer strange numbers anyway, but I promise a fast response, call/text back.
