Part Time Companion Sought for young man with Downs Syndrome (Prospect Point Lake Hopatcong)

WHO:  60 y/o young man with Downs syndrome, early stage dementia, pacemaker, indwelling foley. Loves music (70's
and many  others), enjoys Yatzhee, chinese and regular checkers, cards, tennis (playing and watching), walks,
miniature golf, bocci,  fishing, hanging out with another guy with whom he can emulate.  Needs help for
navigating stairs because of impaired depth perception, help for navigating around traffic due to impaired
peripheral vision, help for walking on uneven surfaces (just  holding   onto him but no physical exertion
required). 

WHAT: Looking for  a male companion who is patient, kind, responsible, reliable (if unable to show on a given day will
give notice day  before or early that day), non-smoker, keen sense of awareness, fun, good driving record

WHEN:  2-4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday, then back-up for Tues 5pm-8pm Smile house social activity  and backup for
Wed 5:30pm- 8pm bowling in Ledgewood

WHERE: We are located in the Prospect Point section of Lake Hopatcong (around the corner from the Main Lake
Market; or 12 minutes  from exit 34B on Rt 80 W; 5 minutes from Rt 15 /McDonalds)

HOW: Paid $23/hr on the books  through Easter Seals which is the fiscal intermediary. I am the managing employer.
Easter seals will do  a background check, fingerprinting, drug screen, and then provide CPR training and online
trainings through what's called the  college of direct supports. Pay period is every 2 weeks. Can submit time
sheets on hard copy or electronically.  Once you are onboarded by Easter Seals you can work with any consumer
who is in the "self-direction" program if you wish.
