These chopsticks are vintage memorabilia from the Jumbo Kingdom, a world-famous floating restaurant complex that was a major landmark in Aberdeen Harbour, Hong Kong, for nearly half a century.
Jumbo Floating Restaurant: The flagship vessel, which opened in 1976 after a massive construction effort costing over HK$30 million. It was renowned for its lavish Chinese imperial palace aesthetic.Sea Palace Floating Restaurant: Originally a competitor to Jumbo, it was acquired by casino magnate Stanley Ho in 1982. In the 1990s, it was renamed "Jumbo Palace" and was later sold and towed to the Philippines in 1999.
