Manuel Carbonell Pygmalion and Galatea Sculpture -

Born in Cuba in 1918, Carbonell studied at Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro" in Havana, Cuba with equally esteemed contemporaries, Wifredo Lam and Agustin Cargenas.
His talents led him to become a celebrity in his native Cuba.
However, Carbonell was exiled to the U.S. following Castro's rise.
Here Carbonell's notoriety really took flight.
Ultimately he was featured in several one man shows at the much famed Schoneman Galleries, MoMa, Galeria Internacional (Venezuela), Randall Galleries, among several others.
Other notable works include the "Bicentennial Eagle" presented at the White House and now on display at The Gerald R. Ford, Presidential Museum.

Miami is home to one of Carbonell's most public works, "The Pillar of History" on the Brickell Avenue Bridge .
Since his passing in 2011, interest in his work has sky rocketed.

Truly a rare and beautiful piece for any collector of Cuban or Modern art. The sculpture measures 29.5 inches high and 13 inches wide and weighs 26 pounds. Would be a gorgeous display piece on a pedestal, in a library,in an office, for a wedding, etc.
