*Rare* 1920s Toy Treadle Sewing Machine - $1 (Bergenfield)

condition: good
make / manufacturer: National Sewing Machine Co.
model name / number: Stitchwell Treadle
size / dimensions: 10"d x 20"w x 30"h
"Stitchwell" brand, circa 1920s. Made by the National Sewing Machine Co. of Belvidere, Illinois. Wood cabinet with cast iron treadle mechanisms. 2 small drawers, one on each side. Tape measure along the front of the machine. The machine itself is cast iron, decorated with period designs and the Stitchwell logo.

ORIGINAL LEAFLET INCLUDED IN DRAWER! Comes with a needle (unsure if original) and the original tape measure decal on the cabinet. The mechanisms did move well last I tested. No thread, no belt.

I have not tried to use the machine to sew, and it is unrestored. Considering the age of manufacture and how fragile it is, it is being sold as a collectable, decoration or museum piece. I have not tried to unfold the leaflet to keep it from being damaged, please be gentile as the paper and machine are a century old.

Children's sewing machines were costly, and the treadle cabinets were a tier above. Few were made and sold, so this is especially rare.

Overall 30" height, 20" wide, 10" deep.

Pickup in suburban Bergen County, 15-20 min from the GWB and half an hour from the Tappan Zee, located close to Route 4.

Make an offer!
