To the Savior it Concerns,
I am desperately trying to place my dog in a loving and permanent home. She is my brother's dog but he is currently unable to take care of her so she's been with my family for the past four months and is more wonderful with each day that passes. He adopted her from a shelter in PA, and I brought her back there (under terms in the contract signed) because I was under the impression that it was a no-kill shelter, which it wasn't. Upon hearing that she would be euthanized, I immediately took her back to my house so I could find a home for her. Having adopted a dog myself I took these rules seriously and when I asked the shelter about placing their dog in a no-kill shelter, they carelessly and unprofessionally shrugged the rules off and obnoxiously said, "good luck." We currently have six dogs and am not able to give her the treatment she deserves. Her name is Chili, and she is an extremely affectionate one year-old pit bull with a red coat and beautiful green eyes and gets along great with children and adults-after initial meet and greet. She is also spayed. Because of the situation she is in she is anxious and somewhat nervous but shows NO signs of aggression. When I introduce her to people she is shy and takes her own time to warm up to them. This has been a difficult and heart-breaking process because she is a total sweetheart and just needs more affection and attention. She loves attention from anyone but does not like cats or small dogs so we will ONLY adopt her out under the circumstance that she be the ONLY PET in a household. We also prefer her to be adopted out in Sussex County so that we can monitor her progress and ensure a safe and stable home. My family and I are are trying as hard as we can to find her the right person/ or family, so if you are interested please respond and we will need to conduct a brief background check, check references and sign a contract that we will discuss. She is a wonderful dog and deserves only the best, hopefully you can help us...

A Jindo Dog, a Rare Breed, is @ Shelter & in Immediate Danger of Euth (Rescue a Jindo - Rare Breed)

Seven has been at the shelter since Aug. 4th. He was scheduled for euthanasia on Friday and we were able to get him a short reprieve so we can save his life by finding a foster or adopter. Either way, he MUST get out of the shelter over the next few days or the shelter will put him back on the euthanasia list.

Seven is a red male Korean Jindo that is approximately 3-years old. He is in dire need of rescue NOW! This is a very rare opportunity to foster or adopt a Jindo because it is very rare to come across this breed in a shelter.

Seven is a very, very sweet boy and did not shy away from being touched and allows petting almost immediately. He seems to want human attention and was not aloof like most Jindos. He just has absolutely NO energy and could barely walk because of the kennel cough. He is being treated for the kennel cough. Once out of the shelter, he will need to continue to be on antibiotic to clear up the kennel cough. He does not react to other dogs nor show any signs of aggression. The sad thing is, when he is walking on the leash, his tail is up and wagging from side to side. He wants to be loved and will make a great dog for someone if they are willing to adopt an adult Jindo. He doesn�t deserve to die and we don�t want him to suffer in the shelter any longer. I�ve asked for another 24 hours to try and help him and he doesn�t have much time.

An Animal Control Officer found Hope and rushed to our Shelter.

X-rays revealed that Hope has a fractured pelvis with floating bone fragments.
Hope's surgery is going to cost approximately $1,500.

We were faced with the horrible prospect of having to put Hope to sleep because our Shelter does not have the funds to pay for her surgery.

But looking into Hope's face & seeing the happiness alive in her despite her pain, we just can't do it.

Hope gives the sweetest kisses and cuddles & once she is well she is going to make some lucky person a wonderful & loving companion.

Seeking Caring, Mature, and Responsible Home for "Rocky" (Northern Bergen County)

We are heartbroken. Due to my husband�s recent health issues we have made the decision to move from our home in Northern NJ into a small, 1st floor, accessible condo. We need to find a responsible and caring home for �Rocky,� as we will not be able to take him with us.

Rocky is a 3 � to 4 year old (approximate), 80 pound, neutered male, brindle-colored and white, Terrier mix (medium-sized dog) with big brown eyes and a wagging tail(See photos).

Rocky was found approximately 2 years ago roaming in the woods with approximately 30 tick bites on him. His face was cut up and he was scared when we adopted him. About a month later, Rocky became lame and was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Once diagnosed and treated, he was his normal self again in about 24 hours. No health problems since!

Due to Rocky�s former diagnosis, we are diligent about making sure he gets his annual Lyme booster in December each year. His vaccines are all up to date(also done in December, annually). We also give him Interceptor (heart worm prevention) and Frontline Plus (flea and tick prevention) every month to keep him healthy.

* Rocky loves teens and most adults. I don�t think a family with small children would be right for him, as he has not been exposed to many small children.
� Rocky will sit automatically if presented with a treat. He will give you alternate paws if you hold out your hand by the paw that you�d like.
* Rocky is not fond of certain small dogs but he seems to enjoy dogs that are about his size or larger. He presently lives with a cat and tries to play with him but I don't think our cat enjoys Rocky's sense-of-humor quite as much.
* Rocky loves car rides, walks, and wading in the lake(on his leash).
� He is very strong and requires a short leash due to his "over-ambition" when he goes for walks.
� Rocky loves to go to the �drive-in� at the bank, where he gets dog biscuits from the Teller.
* Rocky is totally housebroken and am very good about letting someone know that he needs to go out by barking, pacing, yawning, or standing at the back door. If you ask him if I wants to go out, he will "freeze� his tail and keep it very straight so that you will know that he wants to go out.
* Rocky would love a large, fenced yard to play in. Otherwise, he needs to be leashed when he goes outside because he likes to run and chase squirrels, rabbits, and birds if he see's them.
� Rocky prefers to spend time around his owners and have his "tummy" rubbed. He is fond of sleeping with the teenage boy or girl at his current home. However,Rocky is a bit of a "bed hog!"
� Rocky loves to play fetch and tug-of-war. When he wants to play fetch (indoors or out), he will start jumping "at you� over-and-over again. That is his signal that he wants to play.

We are hoping that a mature, responsible, and caring person/family will be interested in adopting Rocky. He would be sweet and playful with the right person(s). We need someone who is able to continue with his veterinary visits (Annual Lyme booster, vaccines, fecal testing, Frontline Plus, and heartworm medicine as preventative care). We do not want Rocky euthanized and want him to enjoy his life in his new home where he will be loved and cared for. Our decision is very hard and we want the best for Rocky! He deserves it! He�s a good boy!

Serious, mature, caring and responsible potential pet owners need only respond. A meeting with Rocky and his current owners is a must, to see if we can find a proper family/owner that is a good match. Thank you.

Save Two Inseparable Dogs that are Best of Friends from Euthanasia (It's A Miracle They're Still Alive!)

This is a heartbreaking story about Mickey and Andria. They were both seized when their elderly owner collapsed. Next of kin says she can not care for the dogs because her medical condition has left her severely incapacitated and will likely be going to a nursing home. It would be great if they were adopted or fostered together being that they have lived with each other - at least they wouldn't lose each other. After all - they have suffered so much by losing their home, their owner and now they will lose their lives if no one is found to commit to foster or adopt them. All they have is each other and the wonderful volunteers that begged the shelter to give them more time to help them get out of the shelter alive. Seeing the companionship between Mickey and Andria touched the hearts of many volunteers at the shelter, which is why they fought so hard to get them a reprieve from being euthanized. It is very rare to see two dogs with such a wonderful companionship come into the shelter. Can you help them be friends forever so they can live out the rest of their lives in a wonderful home with each other as life long companions?

Mickey and Andria are best of friends and inseparable. When the volunteers take them out of their kennels, they can�t wait to play with each other. Each time they are re-united together, they are so grateful to have each other again. To watch them together and see the happiness they share when they�re in each others company is priceless.

It's a miracle that these two dogs Andria and Mickey are still alive!! They were both scheduled for euthanasia Saturday morning. It is very rare that the shelter would not have put them to sleep already being that they were on the euthanasia list. So we must act QUICKLY to get them out alive. If you can foster and or adopt one of both of them, please call 646-642-2227 IMMEDIATELY so we can get them out ALIVE!!!!! It's amazing that they are still there and BREATHING. But we must act quickly to keep them alive.

I was there this weekend donating some stuff and decided to look at the dogs. And I saw Duke, he is such a sweet boy. Yes he is 8 yrs old but he didn't act like it. I have 2 beagles of my own and if I could I would have adopted him. He is loving and playful. Please help save him, this poor guys deserves a chance to live out his life in a home, not on a cold shelter floor.

I found a male tri-color BEAGLE yesterday night in kearny, a block away from Walmart around the bergen ave area. He is extremely friendly. He was very exhausted and hungry. He has a collar but no name tag. A bell does hang from his collar.
