if you say you have songs written, please mean it. Three cords and a beat does not equal a song. no melody, no lyrics = no song.
endless jamming may be cool, but please be honest and not waste others time. if your guitar player is so loud that the drummer can't hear his own kick drum in the rehearsal space, if you are asking your bass player for more melodic playing, but there is no melody for the song, maybe you need a gut check.
I'm great with rock, funk, prog rock, metal, jazz, afro cuban, brasilian , country, anything! I also have a degree in jazz (my recordings are all of me playing jazz btw) and also have been performing in pits for years. I've worked in cover bands and would love to find a regular working band!
I have a great team player attitude, professional equipment, am punctual, and very creative.
We are only a band. We make music. We make music for our own fulfillment and not for the sake of mass appeal or commercial success. These things, while not entirely evil in their own rights, are but ancillary benefits to a well conceived concept, and should never be sought after at the expense of one’s artistic vision. In light of the present musical landscape, it is a near certainty that Father Divine will never sell 20 million records. This is OK by us. We do, however encourage anyone that enjoys ambitious, well conceived, well recorded, and skillfully executed music to buy our CD’s or Mp3’s. We only ask that you LEGALLY purchase these things. For this desire to retain ownership over our work, we apologize.
We invite anyone who desires an energetic live show to come see us perform. However, there is a catch: WE ARE NOT A COVER BAND. It can be said right now with utmost clarity that you will never hear a BON JOVI MEDLEY at a Father Divine show. Another stumbling block you may encounter: Folks will not find at our shows a foundation for a burgeoning social scene or movement. There are few musicians that we would consider friends, and even fewer friends that we would consider musicians. Artists from other disciplines bore us to tears and we will have nothing to do with them as well. Our shows in no way resemble some post modern school of Athens, or a twenty-first century “Factory Scene.” Accordingly, you will not find in our physical appearances, or in our accoutrements, a blueprint from which one can derive some “style” or “look.” For this we whole heartily seek your forgiveness. The fact of the matter is: We are not interested in trendy clothes, trendy places or trendy talk from the mouths sycophants or groupies. Sadly, such things haven’t nearly the hold on our attention that a 1973 Fender Rhodes, or a Travis Bean guitar ,or a Vintage Moog synthesizer has.
While the subject matter of our songs is often topical in nature, we at Father Divine have never "spoken out" on any "issues," have never campaigned for anyone running for public office, and have never endorsed any of the utopian agendas that so many of our more naïve contemporaries have championed. We do however, find the prospect of living in a world that is rapidly becoming more and more monoculturistic as abysmal as a David Hasslehoff rendition of I am the Walrus. This does not mean one should regard the actions or words of Father Divine as some moral yard-stick or social barometer. Again, we apologize in advance for letting you down. We have enough trouble dealing with our own bouts with apathy to be concerned with yours. Find a hero elsewhere.

We need someone who can be a solid and creative rhythm guitar player (obviously any lead gtr or backing vocal ability is a plus), who can also chip in with promoting the band, getting gigs, etc.. Being a creative part in the songwriting/arranging is obviously part of the package.
Our sound is very 90s-influenced, with some classic rock, indie and folk-rock too. We play both electric and acoustic shows.

My main influence is Oasis. The style im looking for is a type of catchy brit pop or just rock/pop. Something that people are listening to these days that catch your attention.
I do a little singing, not amazing but i can do some back up.
We are musically trained and gig-seasoned. We just added a fine drummer who believes in the philosophy that originals and covers can equally co-exist within the same band. We are now in search of a lead guitar player in their mid-20's to 30's whom believes the same: that being a well-balanced musician and knowing a wide repertoire of music will lend itself to making money (as in covers) and to making good music (as in originals).
Lead and harmony vocal ability is a plus but not necessary. Original songwriting ability is also a plus. Music chops, drive and the ability to learn songs and adapt quickly are a big key.

We are an established Band playing an eclectic mix of rock-pop classics - timeless music that has wide appeal. We have a few standing gigs that cover large, private outdoor parties, concert-in-the-park situations and the occasional dinner/dance restaurant/bar. We target the family-friendly, rock-n-roll dance-party opportunity.
We are not a "bar band" nor will we tour the Jersey shore. We are selective in when and where we play and we're looking to gig 6-8 times a year with a concentration during the warmer months. We focus our efforts in and around our primary communities where we have an established reputation and following: the Hardyston/Hamburg and Hillsborough areas of NJ.
The group currently consists of three individuals 1)front-man/lead singer rhythm guitarist, 2)bassist w/ background vocals, and 3)drummer. We are all married, with children and managing full-time careers.
