Are you a retired teacher looking to make a difference in the lives of children and homeless pets?

Noah’s Ark is looking for a volunteer Humane Educator. As the Humane Educator you will present animal care and the important concepts and trends in humane education to local schools and organizations. The programs are for all ages and teach pet responsibility and encourage the special bond between humans and animals.
The Noah’s Ark Humane Education Program has been active for several years and is welcomed into schools and community groups throughout the greater Morris, Sussex & Warren County areas.

Qualifications: Enthusiastic and patient teacher who can inspire children in the community and who has a desire and willingness to help children learn about humane education. Experience developing lessons that spark interest through the use of books, presentation, activities, motivation and discussion. Ability to coordinate scheduling of workshops. We have some existing activities to work from. Assist in administering feedback surveys.

Humane Education topics include
o Snuggle up with a Story - Read about bite prevention while the young children snuggle up with their favorite stuffed animal.
o Respecting our Animal Friends - This program works to increase the awareness that animals are a source of joy and comfort to their human companions. They are, in fact, valuable members of a family and as such should be treated with respect and love.
o Pet Safety - Topics include how to keep a pet healthy and safe, animal abuse, spay/neuter, puppy mills and how to be prepared for a pet emergency. Students will discover how the community’s involvement with the local animal shelter plays a major role in the success of helping lost and unwanted animals.
Humane Education programs are FREE; however, any donation is gladly accepted
